Mapping out the development boom in Maricopa

15064

Development is rampant in Maricopa, and there are as many opinions about it as there are rooftops being added to the city. One thing is certain — we are on the verge of a population and housing wave unlike any other ever seen in the city.

Based solely on projects that have already submitted documents to the city to begin the development process, Maricopa is looking at 20,618 new homes and potentially almost 54,000 new residents in the next five years or so. That would take the city’s population to right around 125,000.

  1. Congrats to the volunteer amateurs on the P & Z….marching Maricopa to become the largest an overcrowded suburb in Arizona…..you all need to be removed and replaced with people who know what they are doing and not following the dictates of Mayor Wonka.

  2. Oh this is some SERIOUS BS. The entire reason why we chose this area was BECAUSE there were farmer fields directly behind us and NO neighbors. Now MORE homes are planned to go right there and will be obstructing our mountain/field views. All the birds that I worked so hard for years to attract to the yard will soon be chased away because some greedy developers want to fill their coffers.

This kind of BS development is the NUMBER ONE REASON why we will be putting our house up for sale and getting OUT of Maricopa.
This kind of BS development will inevitably turn Maricopa into another Casa Grande with vacant businesses, crime, filthy roads, and LOWER property value, and with there still being only ONE road out of town traffic on the 347 will be even more of a nightmare.
NICE WORK, YOU GREEDY FOOLS. Whoever is running P&Z needs to be kicked to the curb.
Word of advice to current residents: SELL NOW while your property value is still high.

  3. This is sickening and I cannot wait to move OUT of Maricopa. The sole reason why I moved here was to be AWAY from the city. I LOVED seeing the farm behind my house, I LOVED the quiet. It will soon be constant construction noise chasing away the quail in my yard, disrupting my silence and cookie cutter houses with annoying neighbors will be blocking my view of the mountains.
The city is being built in my backyard against my will and I refuse to live here a second longer than I have to.
