City of Maricopa Fire/Medical Department firefighter Jared Hobson will compete on the History Channel’s reality show “Forged In Fire” on July 24.

This show selects the country’s top bladesmiths to compete in a variety of challenges recreating historical weapons. The outcome of the show is unknown until it airs.

Hobson is assigned to Engine 574 B shift and has been with the department for 13 years.
