The Maricopa Flood Control District will meet at 6 p.m. today to discuss business.

The meeting will be held on Zoom. The meeting code is 521 882 4617 and the password is 411411.

The board will hear the latest developments on the Desert Cedars project. With the City in the process of selling the parcel on the southeast corner of Bowlin Road and John Wayne Parkway, the board will discuss how to approach the project with this change.

District manager David Alley will give an update on MFCD’s election, scheduled for Oct. 6 for the seat of Director Scott Kelly, whose term is expiring. Kelly has announced his plan to seek re-election and has submitted all the paperwork necessary for qualification.

There are a number of follow-up items for discussion, such as the East-West Corridor, the North Santa Cruz Regional Solution, MFCD easements in the Sorrento Development and City of Maricopa’s pool drainage policy.

Board members will consider other areas of concern to MFCD as well.
