Maricopa is among the fastest-growing large cities in the west, according to U.S. Census data.

A report last week based on that data showed Maricopa saw 6.2% population growth from July 1, 2021, to July 1, 2022.

Maricopa was ranked the third-fastest growing large city in the census’ western region. The census defined large cities as housing a population over 50,000.

The only two western cities to outpace Maricopa’s growth were Santa Cruz, Ca., which grew 12.5%, and Queen Creek, which grew 6.7%.
