Forgot the milk? Walmart may soon send it by drone.
Walmart announced earlier this month it plans to expand service to seven new markets, including the greater Phoenix area. And it looks like Maricopa is set to be part of that expansion, according to public records obtained by InMaricopa.
In a pre-application document, Wing said its drones travel 150 feet in the air at 65 mph and “gently lowers the package” via a tether from 20 feet high. Customers can have groceries, over-the-counter medications and other household necessities delivered.
A news release from Wing said items can be delivered to a customer’s yard or driveway within 30 minutes.
“Customers expect their orders on their terms, delivered with speed and ease,” said Greg Cathy, Senior Vice President of Walmart’s eCommerce Fullfillment Transformation. “Expanding into new markets with Wing allows us to provide an innovative delivery option for customers … to make everyday shopping and fulfilling last-minute needs just a little bit easier.”
If approved, the drones would be kept in a fenced-in part of the Walmart parking lot at Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Porter Road. There currently is no timeline for when the project may be approved or when delivery may begin.

Not sure about this, are we going to hear these things buzzing around all day now?
My dad always told me if you pull out a gun, they better use cause they will come back for you. The girl is dum.
I like this idea and new service! This is progress.
It’s completely amusing to see the “I don’t need no gov’mint spyin’ on ME” people in this town being in favor of delivery drones, flock cameras, posting online with their real names/photos, Ring cameras, uploading their ID to Google, etc etc etc
It’s almost like they don’t really believe in anything they say they do.
That is not a good idea because the drone cannot deliver a large amount of food at one time, and it’s easy for orders to get delivered to incorrect addresses. I prefer a real person delivers my groceries because I always sign for my orders.
