What’s Normal Aging, and What’s Not?
Ever walked into a room and forgotten why you went there? Misplaced your keys for the third time this week? You’re not alone, and you’re not necessarily losing your memory.
To help residents better understand the difference between typical age-related forgetfulness and something more serious like dementia, Maricopa Senior Living is hosting an informative and supportive program titled: “Is it forgetfulness, or something else? what’s normal as we age and what really isn’t?”
This free community event will be held on Tuesday, June 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Redwood Room at the Maricopa Library and Cultural Center.
Whether you’ve noticed occasional memory lapses in yourself or are concerned about a loved one, this session will help clarify what to expect as we age, and when it might be time to seek further evaluation.
Elaine Poker-Yount, CDP, a Certified Dementia Practitioner and founder of Successful Aging AZ, will lead the presentation. Poker-Yount offers valuable tools for recognizing early signs of dementia. The to help to empower caregivers and families to take the right next steps.
In addition to the educational session, guests can enjoy refreshments, access helpful resources, and hear special announcements about upcoming dementia support programming in Maricopa.
