Meet: Bella Washington

Getting to Know Bella Washington
Leader, Flourish Microschool

Originally from Killeen, Texas, Bella Washington made Maricopa home in 2022 and has embraced the community’s welcoming atmosphere and family-focused spirit.

As the leader of Flourish Microschool, Bella values connection, growth, and creating spaces where people can thrive. When asked what she likes most about Maricopa, her answer reflects that same mindset: the city’s family-oriented environment and diversity. If there’s one thing she’d change, though, it’s an experience many locals know well — navigating State Route 347.

Family is at the center of Bella’s world. She shares life with her wife, mother, and grandmother, along with two beloved pets: Bailey, a mini goldendoodle, and Buddy, a Siamese cat.

Outside of work, Bella enjoys traveling and sports, and one thing she can’t stand is being late. Her dream getaway is easy to picture — relaxing in a waterfront bungalow in Fiji, surrounded by ocean views and complete peace.

Her favorites offer a glimpse into what inspires her. She supports the Human Rights Campaign and enjoys reading Nineteen Minutes. One of her favorite movies is The Shack, and she’s a fan of Liam Neeson.

Music also plays a meaningful role in her life, with favorites including for KING & COUNTRY, Jelly Roll, and Lauren Daigle. Her favorite song is Hold On to Me.

When game day arrives, Bella cheers for the Phoenix Mercury, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Los Angeles Lakers, while counting A’ja Wilson among her favorite athletes.

Her ideal meal includes steak, salmon, a loaded baked potato, and broccoli, paired with a glass of sweet tea, and one of her favorite places to eat is Benihana.

One quote that stands out to her comes from Jodi Picoult:

“Equality is treating everyone the same. Equity is taking differences into account, so everyone has a chance to succeed.”

And her personal words to live by are simple but powerful:

“You only get one life. If you do it right, one is enough!”

And because every profile deserves a smile to end on:

How do you make a tissue dance? Put a little boogie in it!
