The City of Maricopa will hold its annual Merry Copa holiday event on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Copper Sky Regional Park.

Complimentary activities at the event include: interactive DJ, Grinch ornament craft, Fun Zone games, free hot cocoa, fireworks display, tree lighting, visits with Santa Claus and the Grinch, How the Grinch Stole Christmas screening on a loop and cookie decorating kits courtesy of Propel Church.

For $5, you can purchase an activity wristband online or in-person at the event, which will allow access to the sledding hill with 40 tons of snow, inflatables, “reindeer” carousel, train rides and holiday petting zoo. Should you purchase online, simply show your digital or printed receipt at the wristband stations.

You can save 50 percent by purchasing a discounted $5 prepaid event parking pass either online or in-person at the Copper Sky member services desk. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of complimentary shuttle service from Maricopa Wells Middle School, available between 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Merry Copa-ville” based on the Dr. Seuss’ classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Merry Copa-ville will feature nearly 100 vendors including eight food vendors, and residents are encouraged to shop local and support small businesses.

As always, Copper Sky Annual members receive complimentary wristbands for each enrolled member of their family as well as free parking.

Passes and wristbands must be collected in-person at the member services desk by noon on Friday.

For all residents and visitors with PTSD, anxiety or anxious animals, please note fireworks will be launched on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m.

Please also advise, Copper Sky Multigenerational Center will close at noon on Friday.

Residents may expect to see increased traffic during event time southbound on SR 347 and Bowlin Road.
