The Red Ribbon Annual Art Contest has been proven to be a success for Maricopa High School this year with 60 art entries.

Bianca Rendon, 12th grader at Maricopa High, earned first place, David Carrea, an 11th grader took second place, and Katrina Banalo, also in the 11th grade, captured third.

Maricopa High School also had a raffle, which included completing the National Drug & Alcohol IQ Challenge. It garnered 84 total entries.

Robert Verdugo (10th grade) won a mug when his name was pulled in the raffle.

Red Ribbon Week ran from October 25 to 29.

On Oct. 29, the Maricopa Police Department let students wear “drunk goggles” in a demonstration along with other activities brought to MHS by La Frontera EMPACT and Be Awesome Youth Coalition.
