The FlatZ 520 apartment community, a 342-unit project featuring one-, two- and three-bedroom units at the southeastern corner of State Route 238 and Loma Road, continues to rise on the city’s west side.

To date, more than 30 buildings have been raised with cranes lifting the modular elements of units into place. Many units have HVAC equipment in place on their roofs, walls and windows are in place, and exterior finishes have been applied.

The project is part of the larger West Maricopa Village, a 35-acre, mixed-use development just west of Acacia Crossing, north of Estrella Gin Business Park and east of the proposed PHX Surf waterpark.

The West Maricopa Village project consists of two primary elements: 182 one- and two-bedroom, single-family homes for rent on 16.3 acres on the property’s east side, to be known as Innovation Village, and FlatZ 520. The Innovation Village element is currently going through the city approval process.

The FlatZ 520 community will consist of 24, 596-square-foot studio units; 120 one-bedroom, one-bath apartments of 677 square feet; 168 two-bedroom, two-bath homes spanning 1,047 square feet; and 36 three-bedroom, three-bath, 1,177-square-foot apartments.

The community is scheduled to open in spring 2023, and prospective residents will begin touring units 30-60 days prior to opening.
