The city’s landscape and median improvement project on State Route 347 from Honeycutt Road to the northern city limit begins Monday.

The 2.15-mile beautification project will include plants, shrubs, decomposed granite, landscape irrigation, concrete, boulders, gabion baskets, steel light columns and artistic elements. There also will be a monument sign at the northern entrance to the city.

The lane nearest the median both northbound and southbound will be closed to provide room for workers.

The project will be done in four phases:

– South of Honeycutt Road to Edison Road

– Edison Road to Smith-Enke Road

– Smith-Enke Road to Sedona Trail

– Sedona Trail to the north city limits.

Each section will be completed before the next section is started to mitigate traffic disruptions.

Haydon Construction will perform the work, which the city anticipates taking 150 days to complete.
