A motorcyclist was hospitalized in a crash that police believe was a hit-and-run on White and Parker Road tonight.

Maricopa police and fire crews responded to the report of a crash involving a motorcycle at White and Parker Road and Bowlin Road just after 10 p.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch Center.

Reporters on the scene saw a motorcycle disabled on the southeast corner of the intersection next to the traffic light. Officers were seen picking up a damaged helmet with a pig cover and placing it into the back of a police vehicle. No other civilian vehicles were on the scene.

“Officers are investigating this crash as a possible hit-and-run with one vehicle leaving the scene prior to officers arriving,” police spokesperson Monica Williams told InMaricopa, “the motorcycle rider was alert and likely has minor injuries.”

The motorcyclist’s ambulance pulled away from the intersection just before 10:40 p.m., and the rider was transported to a hospital.
