MPD: Speeders dodged taser, kicked cop in the groin

Two women’s attempt to evade a traffic stop for criminal speed led to a deployed taser and a kick to the crotch Thursday morning.

Maricopa police arrested 48-year-old Pharisa F. Brass on counts of aggravated assault on an officer, failing to stop and failing to comply, according to a probable cause statement. Marnee L. Conner, 31, was also arrested on counts of aggravated assault on an officer, failing to comply and two counts of resisting arrest.

Officers saw Brass driving a Honda CR-V eastbound on Honeycutt Road near Hartman Road at 75 miles per hour in a 45 zone, according to the police report.

Police caught up to Brass near Terragona Boulevard and San Ambrose Avenue in Tortosa, near Desert Wind Middle School, and tried to initiate a traffic stop. Brass reportedly kept driving until she backed into a driveway on West Santa Monica Avenue.

That’s when cops confronted Brass in the driver’s seat. Conner, a passenger, fled toward the house and ignored the officers’ commands to stop.

While officers tried to chase her down, they told Brass to stay back — but she didn’t, so one officer fired his taser at her but missed.

Both women were eventually apprehended, but not before Conner allegedly kicked an officer in the groin.

Brass and Conner were booked into Pinal County jail. Both face over two years in prison.
