Fences around Maricopa Police Department’s new administration building dropped today — that means an opening is “coming soon,” according to city staff.
The $24.5 million, 32,000-square-foot facility will house a jail with four holding cells, administration services and up to 20 dispatch consoles.
It is slated to be functional by the end of the summer.
“The dates are still being finalized,” said city spokesperson Monica Williams this morning. “We are happy to see the fences come down as that means it’s coming soon.”
The move from the current HQ next door is not expected to impact department staff.
“The move will take place over a designated weekend when admin staff are normally off,” Williams said. “For our officers, it will be business as usual.”
