The Arizona Educational Foundation has honored Pima Butte Elementary School as an A+ School of Excellence.

The recognition distinguishes Pima Butte Elementary among 37 outstanding Arizona public schools.

Pima Butte was honored for an exemplary commitment to student support, active teaching methodologies, nurturing climate, parental involvement, community cohesion and visionary leadership, said Tracey Lopeman, Maricopa Unified School District superintendent.

“Pima Butte Elementary’s achievement of the A+ School of Excellence award reflects the dedication and collaborative spirit of their educators, families, and community partners,” Lopeman said. “This honor reaffirms their collective commitment to providing an environment where every student can thrive.”

Pima Butte Principal Elizabeth Allison shared her enthusiasm, “Earning this designation is outstanding, but maintaining it through so many changes like covid brings me so much more pride, as I hope it does for our entire school community,” Allison said. “While our work continues, today is a day to celebrate.”

Now in their 41st year, the Arizona Educational Foundation has honored more than 800 schools.

This is the second time Pima Butte has been recognized.

Schools receiving the A+ School of Excellence Award receive a monetary award of $500 and a banner to display on campus. Schools retain the A+ designation for four full school years, provided they maintain an “A” or “B” rating and continue to uphold the exceptional standards synonymous with A+ schools.
