“Chief Leffler has retired from the position,” said Quinn Konold, Digital Communications Manager for the City Manager’s Office. “Brad Pitassi assumed the role of Interim Fire Chief effective March 27. There will be a process of naming a permanent replacement over the next several months.”

Pitassi had served as Assistant Chief for Operations and Emergency Medical Services for two years, and prior to that was the city’s assistant chief for administration.

“I am a dedicated practitioner of public safety, emergency management, crisis communications, and life-long learning,” Pitassi said on his Linked In page. He describes himself as, “an Assistant Fire Chief and Type 1 Public Information Officer with leadership skills gained from experience, desire to learn, a drive to be a steward of my profession, and a strong sense of service to others and duty.”

As the Operations assistant chief, Pitassi’s responsibilities included overseeing the department’s day-to-day operations, all-risk all-hazard emergency preparedness, personnel, long-term operational strategic planning, and its budget.

Prior to Operations, was the Assistant Chief of Administrative Services, where he headed the logistics, facilities, grants, Homeland Security, emergency management, community services and fire prevention divisions.
