Anyone flying out of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport this weekend should be prepared for a longer commute to the airport.
A stretch of Interstate 10 near Sky Harbor will be closed this weekend as part of the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Broadway Curve Improvement Project. Westbound I-10 will be closed between State Route 143 (the Hohokam Expressway) and the I-17 spit from 10 p.m. Friday until Monday at 4 a.m.
The westbound on-ramps at Elliot, Baseline and Broadway roads also will be closed during that time, as will the westbound HOV lane ramp from US 60 onto I-10. The southbound SR 143 ramp to I-10 will be closed as well.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is recommending traffic coming from Maricopa take the eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to the Loop 101 (Price Freeway), then get on the westbound Loop 202 (Papago Freeway) into Sky Harbor.
