Want a true crime podcast that feels a little closer to home?

Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer and his main media man, Mike Pelton, dove into the case of Maricopa’s 2016 “garage murder” in the third episode of their new podcast released yesterday.

It was what Volkmer called “the single greatest amount of premeditation” he has ever seen in a case.

Pinal County Attorney’s Office debuted the podcast in January with another disturbing Maricopa case — the infamous “YouTube Mom” who died while awaiting trial for 30 felony counts of child abuse.

‘Paternity test tragedy’

Maricopa police found Michael Agerter shot dead in his car in his garage Dec. 16, 2016.

It was just hours after he submitted DNA samples for an ongoing child custody court battle with his ex-girlfriend, Kathryn Sinkevitch.

Detectives had to be cunning and stay a step ahead of Sinkevitch to pin her down as suspect No. 1.

“She had an excuse for everything,” Volkmer said.

Eventually, her alibis crumbled at the hands of detectives and Sinkevitch was sentenced to life in prison on June 2, 2019. It’s the harshest punishment in Arizona after the death penalty.
