Most drivers pass through the Heritage District at 30 mph. Police say they clocked Javier Ruvalcaba passing through at 99.
Sitting in a marked patrol vehicle near Plainview Street around 1:20 a.m. Friday, an officer reported hearing a car revving its engine just before watching a dark blue Dodge Charger speed eastbound on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. Using a speed detector, the officer clocked the Charger going 99 mph.
Police followed the car with its emergency lights on until the Charger pulled over near an apartment complex on Porter and Iron Point Roads.
During the traffic stop, the driver, identified as 27-year-old Ruvalcaba, could only provide a state identification card. A records check showed his driving privileges were “revoked due to a prior aggravated DUI arrest,” the probable cause statement said.
Court records show Ruvalcaba has previously been cited or charged in multiple traffic-related cases, including speeding, speeding in a school zone, reckless driving and driving without a license.
Police arrested Ruvalcaba on suspicion of criminal speeding, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license, all misdemeanor charges.

Thank you Maricopa PD. You probably saved a life.
Did they check if he has an active ICE detainer?Just misdemeanor charges? Was he arrested and jailed? Was his car impounded?Seems in other criminal speeding stories their car was impounded for thirty days, jailed and felony charges? He has been previously charged with three of the new charges so they let him back on the streets?Time for a new chief of police.
He needs to do hard time.
The more people that move out here, the more this type of stuff is going to happen. The old-timers that have lived in AZ and or Maricopa their whole lives; we have a dog in the fight. These new people movin out her (apt dwellers), they aren’t coming to “add to the community”, they are just going where the cheap, new apts are…. Gonna attract trashy people! More than half of these new apt complexes are section 8 / low-income housing… *insert eye roll*
Oh please, I’ve seen plenty of trashy homeowners in this town who have the audacity to think they’re “better” than apartment dwellers with not an inkling of self awareness.
P.S. Seniors are residents of Section 8 housing. Pretty sure the geezers aren’t flying down the road doing 99+ mph. It wouldn’t make sense for low income renters to move all the way out here where’s no employment opportunities. Section 8 does not mean “free” housing. There is a minimum income requirement in order to qualify.
My god, why doesn’t ANYONE on here take the thirty seconds to do a search and learn something before complaining about …anything?
