Amalia Clark, owner of Molly’s Little House of Feet, proposed the construction of a new daycare facility to the Maricopa Planning & Zoning Commission Monday evening at itsregular meeting.

The location of Clark’s daycare facility, 19909 N. Justin Drive, will be a two-story building with 7,120 square feet of space, which would allow for the care of up to 120 children. Clark said she normally would not care for more than 80 children at one time but wants the building to be larger than necessary, so it would be flexible in the event more children could be cared for during special times.

The proposed building will be built on a 10,890-square-foot lot and the location is just south of the post office. They will be leasing their parking from a neighboring business lot, which is also shared by a church.

Clark plans to offer childcare and preschool, mainly for children ages 0-5.

Rooms in the facility will be separated by age group.

Molly’s House of Little Feet was incorporated in Arizona in June 2015.

The Commission voted unanimously to forward the plan to the city council with their approval. The Heritage District Citizen Advisory Committee will look at the proposed architectural elevations at its meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Also presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission for discussion was a preliminary-plat of a new 80-lot subdivision just south of the corner of Bowlin Road and Hartman Road. The subdivision is proposed by Anderson Palmisano Farms and will cover about 20 acres.

The item was presented just as information to the Commission and no action was taken on the matter.
