We have new details on a car said to have fled the scene after another vehicle and a home were shot at in Rancho El Dorado this morning.
Maricopa police dispatch received multiple calls regarding shots being fired at a residence on Hillman Drive just before 11 a.m. this morning, said spokesperson Quinn Konold. Police responded to the scene and detained four occupants of the home.
On-scene investigation determined that two adult men who were armed with handguns had exchanged gunfire in front of the home. According to Konold, police believe both men were “affiliated with” the address.
One of the men remained on the scene and told officers where his firearm was located, according to Konold. The gun was recovered at the scene.
The other involved man had fled the scene in his SUV, said police. A trooper with the Arizona Department of Public Safety later located and detained the fleeing vehicle with the outstanding suspect near Quartzite, a town of 2,400 in La Paz County on the fastest route from Maricopa to California.
No people or property were known to have been struck by gunfire during this incident. There is no ongoing threat to the community and all involved parties have been identified, said Konold.
