Maricopa police are investigating a crash at an intersection on the main strip during rush hour this afternoon.

Maricopa police, fire and medical units were dispatched to the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road at 6:22 p.m., according to Phoenix regional dispatch.

“There are two vehicles blocking the southbound lanes,” said the public safety spokeswoman, Monica Williams, around 7:10 p.m. “Fire is currently on scene assessing any injuries.”

Two witnesses described seeing multiple ambulances depart the scene. The extent of the injuries is still unknown.

Williams confirmed minor injuries but could not confirm who if anyone was transported to the hospital.
