Maricopa Police Department is investigating a crash that killed someone this afternoon.

Just after 3:30 p.m. today, MPD was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway at Anderson Road.

Officers determined a van collided with a semi truck, causing significant injuries to the driver of the van. The driver, an adult man, was quickly transported to the hospital but has since died from his injuries.

At this time, officers do not have reason to believe drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, but a thorough investigation will be conducted.

The Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway intersection at Anderson Road will be partially closed for several hours as the necessary information is gathered.

This is a breaking story. It will be updated as more information becomes available.
