Multiple Maricopa fire crews responded to a smokey scenario this afternoon at the Maricopa Professional Village on John Wayne Parkway and Smith Enke Road.

Four fire trucks responded to a possible fire in one of the medical offices at approximately 3:30 p.m., according to the Phoenix Regional Dispatch Center. The scene, however, turned out less dramatic, according to Battalion Chief Will Sherwood.

“There was smoke inside the structure,” he said. “We’re going toward the cause of the A/C. They had A/C work done on it, so we’re not sure if it was a broken belt or if the motor was smoking.”

Public safety spokesperson Monica Williams confirmed the scene was hazy and a fire did not occur.

No one was injured and the businesses reopened at 4:15 p.m.
