Update: SR 347 reopens 5 hours after serious crash

State Route 347, closed for a serious crash about 6 p.m. Monday, has reopened.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed at Riggs Road so Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers could conduct an investigation of the accident. The highway was reopened just before 11:30 p.m.

The crash scene was just south of the Gila River overpass near Casa Blanca Road. A vehicle could be seen off the road.

At lease one person was believed to be injured in the crash as a medical helicopter landed at the scene, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

For nearly five-and-a-half hours, all southbound traffic on SR 347 was forced to turn onto eastbound Riggs Road, ADOT said.
