SR 347 at Riggs Road (ADOT)

Six weeks of roadwork on State Route 347 will continue Sunday night.

Work on the pavement sealing project is being done between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Sunday to Thursday on 15-plus miles of the highway between Hathaway Avenue in Maricopa and I-10, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The work started last Sunday.

Cholla Pavement of Apache Junction is the contractor on the project.

It will include two phases: crack sealing with an oil-like substance, which will be more than half the project, Nick said, and the reapplication of pavement markings, where necessary.

Lane restrictions – both northbound and southbound – will be in place throughout the project. Traffic will be restricted to one lane. Work will be limited to three-mile segments in one direction of travel during each overnight restriction.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while work is underway. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
