An iconic Maricopa dive bar is ready to sling your favorite domestic beers and shots after a monthslong hiatus.
Headquarters Lounge announced on social media today it will resume business next door to Headquarters Restaurant & Bar, 19640 N. Maricopa Road, on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The bar has been closed for nearly four months due to its liquor license remaining under the name of its late owner Alma Farrell, who passed away in March.
“We want to start by thanking everyone for your continued support and patience over these past few months while we navigate through unknown territory after Alma’s passing,” the social media post read. “All of your letters of supports [sic] and just words of kindness have truly meant the world to us.”
In September, members of Farrell’s family attempted to gather 500 letters of support to submit to the Pinal County Superior Court in hopes of securing a temporary liquor license. However, the superior court stated a judge “would not request 500 letters from the community for any purpose.”
Also known as The New HQ, the bar is attached to the city’s oldest restaurant, which will celebrate 72 years in business next month.
New owners Darwin and Jocelyn Parks have declined to comment on the bar’s status.
