The first cannabis dispensary inside Maricopa city limits is set to sell its first pre-rolled joint in just 50 days.
Maricopa Meadows resident Matthew Barajas said on social media today that the dispensary will hold its grand opening Jan.3 with a soft opening Jan. 2.
Barajas has been in the cannabis industry since 2017. He worked for Nirvana dispensaries, a subsidiary of Trulieve Cannabis, from 2017 to 2022 and began working under Trulieve in the beginning of this year.
“I posted on Facebook to clear any rumors,” Barajas told InMaricopa.
Construction on dispensary No. 22 in Arizona for the Maricopa Trulieve began in August. Trulieve has a 64,000-sqaure-foot cannabis grow operation in Phoenix that partly supplies said locations.
Barajas works under the management team at Trulieve’s location in Guadalupe and is hoping to be part of the Maricopa team since he resides here.
He was answering questions under the social media post about job offerings, how to apply and what deals the pot shop will have.
Trulieve published job applications for the Maricopa store last week. It is looking for an assistant general manager, general manager, shift supervisor and part-time dispensary associate.
Reporters were at the construction site today and the building looks close to being complete.
A Trulieve spokesperson did not immediately confirm the grand opening dates.
