A speeding Uber driver with a passenger in the backseat was pulled over by Deputy Frank Sloup after allegedly flying down Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway at 83 mph in a 50-mph zone last week.
The stop happened near Val Vista Road headed into Maricopa, according to Sloup, the internet-famous “copfluencer” behind the viral Fridays with Frank series. That location has been the site of some pretty ugly recent crashes.
“This guy passed a bunch of cars back there … now he’s just on fire,” Sloup said as he pursued the ride-share driver in his unmarked Dodge Charger.
The driver, still carrying a California license and plates — plus a Los Angeles Chargers sticker (at least he got his consolation prize later that evening) — told Sloup he had only been in Arizona “a couple of months.” But under questioning, that self-admitted timeline stretched to eight months.
Arizona law requires new residents to obtain an Arizona driver’s license within 10 days.
Sloup issued citations for criminal speeding (20+ mph over the limit) and no valid Arizona license.
The entire stop was recorded for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office’s YouTube channel, where Sloup’s traffic stings regularly rack up hundreds of thousands of views. Watch it:
