Valve failure dries up water in Rancho El Dorado

Water service was lost to about 180 homes in the Rancho El Dorado for more than an hour today when valves failed during a routine check, a Global Water Resources officials said this afternoon.

Jon Corwin, vice president and general manager of GWR in Maricopa, said workers were checking water shut-off valves on a water line around noon when one failed and could not be opened, shutting the system down in the Rancho El Dorado area just east of 347 and west to Rancho El Dorado Parkway.

“We did have a small outage,” Corwin said at about 3 p.m. “It’s back in operation.”

The system shut down around noon and service to that part of the neighborhood was restored by 1:10 p.m., he said.
