The Maricopa Police Department has identified the victim in this morning’s fatal single-car accident at the overpass on John Wayne Parkway as 19-year-old Santino Marks.

Maricopa Police and Fire responded to the accident at 8:50 a.m. on the northbound lanes of John Wayne Parkway just north of Honeycutt Ave.

“When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they found a wrecked Chevrolet Corvette which had struck the concrete barrier to the bridge,” MPD spokesman Sgt. Hal Koozer said in a statement. Maricopa Fire and Police were unable to revive Marks, and he died at the scene.”

Koozer said Marks’ vehicle moved erratically prior to the crash.

“Witnesses reported the Corvette travel from the far lane across traffic into the bridge barrier,” he said. “It is unknown what caused Marks to veer across traffic. The Marks family has been notified and this case is still under investigation.”
