Maricopans continue to flock to social media with videos and photos of car break-ins in what’s now a weeks-long string of dozens of such incidents — with no arrests yet.

This weekend was no exception.

Senita 1 resident Lindsey Riley shared video footage with InMaricopa and on social media of a person trying to break into two Tesla sedans and hiding when she came outside to check on her car.

Just before 4 a.m. Saturday, a cloaked figure was seen struggling to open the door’s unique handle — failing repeatedly — then giving up and trying the other car in the driveway.

The second Tesla’s Sentry Mode turned on, its lights flashed, and the suspect scurried away.

The Rileys saw a black van with California plates driving in circles suspiciously.

Maricopa police are investigating a pair of vehicle break-in incidents over the weekend, according to a police spokesperson.

Maricopa Meadows resident Jason Blaylock shared photos of damage to his car including a busted door lock and torn-apart ignition.

An anonymous tipster shared another video of accused car thieves recorded around 3:30 a.m. this morning.

The video shows a group of people walking down a street in Rancho El Dorado. One of the suspects is wearing a horror-style clown mask and stares menacingly down the barrel of a home security camera.

A probe into last weekend’s unrest is “in the early stages of the investigations,” according to MPD spokesperson Monica Williams.

She could not comment on whether any of these incidents were connected, or whether MPD believes it’s the same gang that has been terrorizing driveways around the community in recent weeks.

“MPD is able to take action when incidents are reported to our department and data collected,” Williams said. “This information allows the department to make informed decisions about the deployment of our patrol officers around the city in order to deter criminal activity.

“We encourage residents to make reports via our non-emergency line and share any video they may have captured of suspicious activity.”
