State Route 238 is closed in both directions at mile post 16 near Gila Bend, according to the Maricopa County Department of Transportation. The closure is expected to be in effect until after the evening rush hour.

The Arizona Department of Transportation has issued an advisory regarding freeway closures that could affect Maricopans traveling to the southeast Valley this weekend.

According to ADOT, the eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be closed between McQueen and Gilbert roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10 to accommodate work on the Lindsay Road Interchange project. Eastbound on-ramps to Loop 202 at Alma School Road and Arizona Avenue also will be closed during that time.

ADOT recommends using local surface streets including Chandler Blvd. as alternate routes. The eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) is the recommended alternate freeway route.

In addition, the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway will be closed periodically in both directions near Priest Drive in Tempe from late Saturday until early Sunday morning. Traffic will be halted at times from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday to allow for APS overhead utility line work. ADOT advises that drivers should be prepared for slowing or stopped traffic during rolling closures of up to 15 minutes at a time.
