Weekend I-10 closure will divert Riggs Road traffic onto SR 347

Riggs Road will close in both directions at Interstate 10 this weekend while crews perform pavement maintenance, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The shutdown runs from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.

The closure blocks all east-west travel under the freeway. Drivers will need to use alternate routes to move between the east and west sides of Riggs Road. ADOT recommends using Queen Creek Road to reach either SR 347 or SR 87, depending on which side of I-10 drivers are trying to access.

Eastbound I-10 drivers will still be able to exit at Riggs Road and travel west, while westbound I-10 drivers may exit and travel east. Riggs Road traffic approaching the interchange will be able to enter I-10 in either direction but will not be able to continue across the freeway.

ADOT is asking drivers to allow extra time and use caution when approaching the work zone throughout the weekend.
