(First InMaricopa) Police arrested Nicholas Bogue, 34, on Saturday for shooting at a home and car in Tortosa. While no one was hurt, the intended victim is known to Bogue, said the authorities.
“The incident appears to have been targeted and isolated,” said Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams.
Police responded to Vemto Street on Saturday around 2 p.m. where they found a house and vehicle damaged by gunfire, along with multiple spent shell casings.
At 3:45 p.m., officers from the Maricopa and Gila River Police Departments located Bogue, a Rancho Mirage resident, in a white SUV near Interstate 10 and State Route 347. The suspect was arrested without incident during a traffic stop, and the firearm used in the shooting was recovered.
Rancho Mirage is adjacent to Tortosa on Maricopa’s East Side.
By 4 p.m., detectives were canvassing the neighborhood for video evidence. A sedan with a Lyft sticker was also towed from the scene as officers cleared the area.
Bogue does not have a violent criminal history. According to court records, he pleaded guilty to a DUI in 2020. As of February, he is still paying court fees after police say his blood alcohol level was nearly .19, about two and a half times the legal limit of .08. He pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.
Bogue was also sued by the Rancho Mirage Homeowner’s Association in 2022.
Formal charges and an arraignment date have not been entered for Bogue.
