The field for the 2016 Saguaro Amateur at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club Jan. 3-6 is confirmed.

The field is headlined by past Saguaro Amateur Champions Taylor Moore (2014) of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Sean Walsh (2015) of Keller, Texas.

Decorated amateur Moore is in his senior season at the University of Arkansas as is Walsh at Gonzaga University. The highest-ranked player in the field is Nick Hardy, of Northbrook, Illinois. Hardy, who is ranked 63rd by the World Amateur Golf Rankings and 29th by Scratch Players is a sophomore on the University of Illinois golf team.

John Souza (Phoenix/Univ. of Colorado), Alec Bone (Phoenix/Colorado State), Blake Cannon (Mesa/Colorado State), and Colton Yates (Scottsdale/Colorado State), headline 18 others from Arizona who will be competing in the Saguaro Amateur.

Many of the players in the Saguaro Amateur compete in college golf. Although they are not officially representing their institutions players from the following schools are competing:

Auburn, Arizona, Arizona Christian, Arkansas, Baylor, California, Colorado, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State, CSU-Fullerton, CSU-Northridge, George Washington, Gonzaga, Illinois, Memphis, Mesa CC, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Siena, Southern Cal, South Mountain CC, Texas-Arlington, TCU, Texas Tech, UC-Irvine, UNC-Wilmington, UNLV, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Washington State, Wichita State, Wittenberg, Wyoming, and Xavier, among others.

NEW SAGUARO TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: New for this winter is the Saguaro Team Championship, which will also be held at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club on Dec. 28-30. The two-person stroke play four-ball event will be one of the premier amateur team events in the country over the winter. Spots are still available in this prestigious event. It is open to men, women, and mixed teams. Entry forms can be found at saguaroamateur.com and the deadline for entry is Dec. 12.
