Elections Director Virginia Ross and Pinal County Attorney Kent Volkmer provided an update from the Elections Department and related legal matters during a Pinal County Board of Supervisors meeting on Sept. 28.
Volkmer told the Board that a rough draft of the Administrative Review report is complete and that the final report is anticipated to be delivered at the next Board meeting.
The next regular Board Meeting is scheduled for Oct. 12, and the next supervisors’ work session is Oct. 19.
During the Sept. 28 meeting, Volkmer also said that the County Attorney’s Office has been made aware of some election challenges, related to ballot boxes and ES&S machines. The County Attorney’s Office is looking into those and will provide an opinion at the next meeting, as well.

Ross told the Board that poll-worker training curriculum has been revamped for future elections.
Other points of interest during the meeting:
- The Elections staff is complete, except for one deputy director position. The latest recruit is an experienced attorney, Geraldine Roll. She has worked alongside the Elections Department in the past and on special assignment from the County Attorney’s Office.
- During the meeting, The Board approved multiple proclamations. Among them: Saturday, Oct. 8 was proclaimed “University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Day” in Pinal County, and Oct. 2 to Oct. 8 was proclaimed “4-H Week.”
