Downed power lines and poles wreaked havoc on Maricopa commuters this afternoon.

Traffic at the intersection of State Route 347 and Riggs Road was backed up to at least I-10, according to AZ511. Photos submitted by readers showed lights not functioning at the intersection.

“ADOT has a report of downed power lines near Maricopa Road and State Route 347. We have a crew en route to check on this,” said a spokesperson for the Department of Transportation in an email.

ADOT did not provide details on what caused the fallen power lines or how long traffic may be impacted.

The majority of traffic cameras also experienced downtime.
