A woman handcuffed on State Route 347 after she was accused of stealing a car in Phoenix Saturday afternoon was released without criminal charges.

Cops responded to a west Phoenix home on the 7600 block of West Sheila Lane just after 11:45 a.m. that day on reports of a stolen car, according to a Phoenix Police Department spokesperson.

“The victims provided officers with tracking information on the vehicle,” the spokesperson said.

Police surveilled the car until “tactical support units” stopped it near SR 347 and Riggs Road and arrested the driver.

An update from Phoenix police today stated the female driver was detained but released without charges pending further investigation.

Police did not identify the woman.
