Four people were involved in the two vehicles, said the spokesperson. The driver and a child were transported via ambulance as a precaution from one vehicle. Two others from the other vehicle were seeking medical attention on their own, also as a precaution.

ORIGINAL STORY 4:31 p.m. June 28, 2025 A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Bowlin Road around 4 p.m. today sent at least two people to the hospital and prompted a large emergency response that has shut down the northbound lanes.
A white Infiniti sedan collided head-on with a gray Nissan sedan making a left turn from John Wayne onto Bowlin, according to witnesses. The front end of the Infiniti, which disabled in the northbound lanes near the intersection, was destroyed.
The gray Nissan came to rest on the northeastern corner near the Circle K, facing the wrong way in the westbound lane, with hundreds of pieces of the vehicle strewn across the sidewalk and throughout the roadway. Its windshield wipers continued moving as crews responded. It had also sustained major front-end damage.
First responders arrived quickly, including Maricopa police officers and public safety aides, Arizona Department of Public Safety state troopers and Maricopa Fire and Medical Department officials. At least eight emergency units were on scene. A young girl aged about 7 was being evaluated roadside, while an adult woman was loaded into an ambulance on a gurney just after 4:15 p.m.
At 4:25 p.m., that ambulance departed with its patient, and a second ambulance arrived at the scene with lights and sirens activated as Maricopa police officers interviewed several witnesses and EMS workers loaded a second gurney.
Northbound lanes of John Wayne Parkway are still closed at Bowlin as of 4:30 p.m. Emergency crews began clearing the scene around this time, though traffic remains restricted. The extent of injuries and the cause of the crash are under investigation.
The intersection has been the site of frequent two-vehicle collisions, often involving red-light runners.
