Better lock your car doors — young thieves still at it

Another day, another spate of car burglaries, or at least attempted.

This time in the Acacia Crossings neighborhood, near Costa Brave Drive and Gavilan Drive, about 2:30 a.m. yesterday.

InMaricopa received a home surveillance video of a youth rattling car-door handles, but no official report of thefts in the area were reported, said police spokesperson Monica Williams.

The video shows a youthful car burglar working in conjunction with a new Nissan Rogue or Subaru Outback carrying at least three people.

The attempted car burglaries were not even 24 hours after Maricopa police tased and apprehended a 14-year-old burglary suspect who attempted to flee on West Corvalis Lane in Glenwilde. He was later found in possession of items stolen from several cars.

In recent weeks, Maricopa residents reported at least a dozen run-ins with late-night car burglars, some clad in creepy clown masks. Two teenagers were already arrested this month on similar charges.
