Break out the champagne — InMaricopa.com turns 21 today

Pinal County’s most-read news source is old enough to order a glass of the house Carletto at Mandy’s Wine Bar. Like any fresh 21-year-old, we’re ready to party.

In 2004, there were two monthly newspapers in the tiny town of Maricopa, then home to just 4,000 people. Do you want to wait a month for the news? Neither did they.

Under the moniker “Maricopa’s Homepage,” Scott Bartle launched 85239.com and watched it quickly take off as the only up-to-the-minute news source in a rapidly growing city.

Our name may have changed — yep, we outlived the ZIP code after which we were once named — but we haven’t lost that designation. Nor do we intend to.

“A lot has changed in 21 years, including the quality of news InMaricopa is providing its readers and viewers and the results we are providing our advertising partners,” said Bartle, the publisher. “Thanks to our great team, InMaricopa is better than ever — and still working hard to have a bigger impact on our community today than we did yesterday.”

Since our website went live March 14, 2004, we’ve amassed more than 60,000 social media followers. Last month alone, more than 4 million users engaged with our social media posts — and nearly a million visited InMaricopa.com.

We’re proud to be Pinal County’s free news source covering everything from the lore behind Maricopa’s TikTok rizz party to building an exact replica of Copper Sky in Minecraft or shopping for human organs on social media.

Whether you read InMaricopa.com for the crime, the traffic, the new businesses or the politics — or any other reason — your readership means everything to us. Thank you for making us Pinal County’s most popular homepage.

Now, it’s time to party!
