The City of Maricopa has released conceptual renderings of a sports fieldhouse proposed earlier this year.
The fieldhouse is slated to replace the Maricopa Police Department Substation on the southeast corner of Bowlin Road and Greythorn Drive, near Copper Sky Recreational Complex.
The new renderings come just months after Maricopa Police Department cut the ribbon on its new, larger station at the City Center.
“This project is currently in the design phase,” city spokesperson Quinn Konold told InMaricopa. “While the existing facility will be repurposed for administrative and storage space, the project includes the construction of a new building connected to the existing one.”
The renderings show the new building replacing the current impound lot at the substation’s backside, along M.L.K Jr. Boulevard. That building would provide plenty of room for indoor activities if built.
“The design will include courts lined for basketball, volleyball and pickleball, ensuring that the fieldhouse will cater to a wide variety of sports and recreational activities,” Konold said.
The fieldhouse as proposed would be a pre-engineered metal building with panels in attractive desert color tones and patterns, city officials said. It would be designed and constructed by Chasse Building Team, BWS Architects and Studio8

Konold added that these renderings and plans are only conceptual and subject to change.
