The mother and son found dead in a Desert Cedars home earlier this week apparently died in a murder-suicide.

Diane Zeitler, 68, died of a shotgun wound to the head in a homicide, according to the Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The examiners also determined that her son, 40-year-old Andre Zeitler, died by suicide by firing a shotgun into his mouth.

Maricopa Police Department officers found the bodies when they were called for a welfare check on the Cypress Lane home at about 11 a.m. Wednesday. That day, they said there was no indication of an ongoing threat to the community.

The home is owned by Andre Zeitler, according to the Pinal County Assessor’s Office. He was a software developer who most recently worked at Ziff Davis, a digital media company with offices in Scottsdale.
