An Acacia Crossings man accused of illegally detaining a child ding-dong-ditch suspect faces aggravated assault charges.
Shawn D. Hajek, 58, chased and pulled the youth off his bike, then pinned him to the ground, Maricopa police said in a probable cause statement.
The juvenile told police Hajek struck him in the head three times.
“Shawn told the juvenile to sit down, near the front door of the residence and called police,” the police report said. “I observed a scrape on the victim’s right knee and redness on the back of the victim’s neck.”
The officer said the redness on the neck looked as if the juvenile had been grabbed there.
The police report said after the youth knocked on Hajek’s front door and sprinted back toward his bike, Hajek charged after him.
The man faces one count of aggravated assault of a child under age 15, which carries a sentence of between two and eight years in the Arizona Department of Corrections.
