ORIGINAL STORY 12:27 p.m. July 16, 2025 Some motorists are being detoured onto State Route 347 after a person died in a crash on Interstate 10 just before noon today. The roadway is closed.
All westbound I-10 lanes are closed at Casa Blanca Road due to the fatal collision, which involved a motorcycle and a semi-truck, according to the Gila River Police Department. Emergency crews are at the scene.
Drivers are expected to take one of two detours, either via State Route 587 or by taking Casa Blanca to SR 347 north and past the closure. Police urge I-10 drivers to “avoid the area, expect major delays and use alternate routes if possible.”
Traffic is backed up at least 5 miles, according to an Arizona Department of Transportation map. Traffic cameras show heavy queues leading to the crash site. There is no estimated reopening time.
