Another day, another empty lot that could become houses.

Homebuilder DR Horton submitted pre-application paperwork last month to convert a former school site into more houses in the Homestead neighborhood.

A project narrative submitted with the site plan showed 53 single-family homes slated for the 10-acre lot on Homestead Drive and Continental Boulevard.

The narrative suggested a school was no longer needed in that area.

“The site consists of a remnant parcel that was set aside as a potential school location and has since been determined that a school is no longer needed,” it read.

In 2004, Phoenix-based CHI Construction acquired the land from Homestead Village North but never transferred ownership to the school district.

As of 2021, plans for a school there were nixed.

  1. More HOUSES… That’s all Maricopa needs is MORE houses. May Maricopa have the following:
    2 Grocery Stores
    1 Laundry Mat
7-9 Cops to patrol speeding in real time or photo camaras at traffic .
That’s not too much to ask for… Is it?
