Maricopa police today confirmed the man who died after drowning in a backyard pool Saturday was a landscaper tending to the property, but do not suspect foul play.

Just after 4:30 p.m., fire and medical crews responded to the 42300 block of Chisholm Drive in Rancho El Dorado community on a report of a drowning, public safety spokesperson Monica Williams said.

A unidentified man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“We have determined the man who drowned was working as a landscaper on the property,” Williams said. Police are still working with Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the man and notify his family.

“A few extra steps are added to this process as he does not appear to be a U.S. resident,” Williams said.
