The next baby step for extensive Interstate 10 work begins Monday.
Following last month’s median work, Arizona Department of Transportation crews will officially begin construction on new I-10 Gila River bridges on Monday.
Work between mileposts 172 and 174 is part of the first leg of 26 miles of construction work on I-10. The new bridges will replace the existing two-lane bridges with three lanes each with wide shoulders. Crews will also reconstruct the existing roadway leading up to the bridges as three-lane roads in each direction.
Construction is expected to continue through 2026.
Currently, ADOT does not anticipate any major roadway restrictions. Any closures or limitations will take place overnight “to minimize the impact on motorists,” according to ADOT officials.
