Tortosa and Sorrento residents: Some of your wishes might soon come true.

A grocery store and retail center are likely coming to the southwest corner of Bowlin and Hartman roads, a city official hinted.

The top city administrator teased the announcement and other development projects during a Maricopa Chamber of Commerce economic forum yesterday. City Manager Rick Horst’s presentation at Southern Dunes Golf Club also mentioned Circle K planning to come to another part of town.

Horst showed a couple of conceptual plans that add up to about 26,000 square feet of retail space. He also highlighted two empty pads, pointing out the size of one in particular.

“I know a little bit about the business; that is the footprint of a grocery store,” he said.

Horst did not say when final site plans would be available, nor did he offer ideas about which grocery store could occupy the space.

Real estate firm Kidder Mathews has the 15 acres listed for sale at an undisclosed amount.
